EIT Food Innovation Prizes

WHAT?

EIT Food Innovation Prizes is a business creation activity in the framework of EIT Food RIS. Prizes are awarded to support the commercialization of novel products, services or business models which make the agri-food sector more innovative, especially at the local level.
Phase 1: Submission of ideas

Interested candidates must submit their application here https://www.f6s.com/innovationprizes2020/about until the 10th of May 2020.

Phase 2: Application Review

The applications will be scored by a panel of judges according to the eligibility and selection criteria. The ten startups with the highest scores all be invited to Portugal EIT Food Innovation Prizes DemoDay, via f6s.com platform, where they have submitted their application, about the result of the evaluation and invited to the pitch training and respective Demo Day. The results will be announced at 11th of May 2020.

Phase 3: EIT Food Innovation Prize Demo Day

The 10 finalists selected will be invited to participated in the Demo Day, having also a workshop on how to pitch and/ or relevant topics related to building a business which will be provided on the 29th of June 2020.
This will be an open start-up networking event, where selected applicants will present their idea in a form of 5 min pitch presentation + 5 min Q&A part in front of a selected jury who will pose questions and will rate the performances based on specific criteria. The Demo Day will be on the 2nd of July 2020 in Lisbon. The 10 startups will pitch to win the following prizes:
1º Prize: 5.000€
2º Prize: 3.000€
3º Prize: 1.000€
Following the presentation, the scores from the online application and Demo Day pitch will be combined with the following formula: 50% for the Online Application + 50% for the Demo Day performance.
The announcement of the winners will be done on the same day during the event.

Phase 4: EIT Food Innovation Prizes Grant Final
The 1º Prize from all 17 countries will be invited for a hands-on Bootcamp training taking place in mid-October 2020 and will participate in the Grand Final of the Innovation Prizes.
The startups will be asked to give a 5 min pitch presentation + 5 min Q&A part in front of a selected jury.
The 1º Prize winner will compete in the Grand Final in November 2020 for:
1º Prize: 25.000€
2º Prize: 15.000€
3º Prize: 10.000€

WHY?

In the Demo Day in Portugal you can win the following prizes:
1º Prize: 5.000€
2º Prize: 3.000€
3º Prize: 1.000€

WHO?

We welcome applications from those who meet the following eligibility criteria:
Any resident, citizen or legal entity based in Europe or EIT Food associated countries
To be considered eligible for the Regional Innovation Scheme (RIS) competition, the applicant must be a citizen and/or residents of: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey.
Applicants cannot have received 60.000€ or more of funding in total from EIT Food.
Application must be submitted in English.
Only candidates who submit a complete application, answer all the questions in the online application step will be evaluated by the second stage of the competition - the live Demo Day.
At least one team member of the selected finalist team must take part and present their idea in the second part of the compatition - local Demo day.
The proposed products or services must align with one or more of EIT Food’s strategic objectives:
Making the food system better for people’s health
Making the food system better for the environment
Making the food system more trusted and transparent
Applicants will be considered ineligible if they are alumni or currently participating in:
Food Accelerator Network (alumni of 2018, 2019, or participant of 2020 edition)
RisingFoodStars members
Applicants will be considered ineligible if they have been awarded a cash prize/grant in one or more if the following EIT Food Programmes:
Seedbed (2019 edition)
RIS Innovation Prizes (2018 and 2019 edition)
Food Accelerator Network (2018 and 2019 edition)
