What is the Open Innovation Program?  

The Open Innovation program helps bridge the gap between corporations and the entrepreneurial world. We have curated challenges faced by corporates with a unique opportunity for startups, researchers or innovators to solve. Read more about each challenge below and if you have a solution for one or more of them, ensure you submit your applications before the 30th of September.

Who is the Open Innovation Program for?

  • Startups and Scaleups developing solutions in the digital area that wish to connect with key corporates, for piloting, investments and validation. 

  • Academics interested/working in the digital transformation area that wish to explore possible solutions with big companies in Portugal. 

How can I be part of this event?

  • To get access to all the benefits of this program, you must submit a solution to one or more of the challenges proposed bellow until 30 September. 

  • To ensure the validity of your application please attach any relevant documents to the solution you are presenting.

Frequently asked questions

Am I eligible to submit a challenge?

You are eligible if you: - have a startup or scaleup; - are a PhD or Master student; - are a researcher or work in a University; - are an individual with a solution that addresses the criterias of the challenge(s) you select

When is the deadline for submission?

Applications must be delivered until 30th of September, submissions after the deadline will not be considered.

What do I get if my solution is selected?

You can participate on the Open Innovation Event. It will be an online event by the on the 29th of October. There you can present your solution to the corporate with the challenge you are trying to solve. After the event, the corporate MAY decide to collaborate with you or to have further conversations with you.

How will I know if my application has been accepted?

After the 30th of September all applications will be evaluated and 5 applications per each challenge/corporate will be selected to participate in the EIT Digital Open Innovation online event. Once the selection is done you will receive an email with feedback.

How will the Open Innovation event be coordinated?

The online event will be organize online, through the platform Zoom. You will be provided with instructions before and during the event.

What is the cost of participation?

The participation in this program is free of charge.

Can I submit just an idea?

The solution submitted should be developed enough so the evaluation jury could understand what you are proposing and see if it is aligned with the challenge. On the application form you can upload a pitchdeck where you should explain the proposed solution and how it will solve the challenge.
