Dream big: how to put your business idea into practice?

The world needs good ideas to solve many challenges, such as those related to the ocean. Your idea could very well provide the answer to these problems.

August is a month of vacations and free time, but between ice cream and sunburn, it's a good time to think about new projects. For those who want to create their own business, we offer you a challenge: create or develop an ocean-based sustainable idea.

But how to put an incredible idea into action?

Blue Bio Value Ideation can help you get the idea off the paper. This is a program designed for students, professors, researchers, entrepreneurs and any ocean enthusiast who have an innovative idea. The goal of this initiative is to find and support existing projects in order to create new startups and pilots, or foster the creation of new ideas. Furthermore, the program helps you to create a team of 5 members. But if you already have a team, you can participate together with your team members!

This can be a great opportunity to start something big while contributing to sustainability and innovation. Besides, this can also be a great experience to include in your CV and portfolio and open new doors for you in the future.

But what is this program about?

It's very simple: you can choose one of the two workshops we offer: one for our fellows in Lisbon (at Nova SBE) and another for our fellows in Porto (at Porto Business School). If you are from another part of the country, don’t worry, you are welcome to any of the sessions! Each workshop will last 48 hours, and you will go through the following steps: Sketching, Prototyping, Brainstorming, Brainwriting, Worst Possible Idea. In each of these phases you will be guided by experts: people who have already been in your shoes trying to build a project. You will also have the possibility of having 1:1 meetings with these professionals who will help you boost your idea.

At the end, there will be a final pitch competition, in which the winner will receive support to create a startup and initiate a pilot.

You can be that winner! What are you waiting for?

Our project manager, Xavier Appleton (the nice guy in the video below) is always ready to answer your questions. You just need to drop him a message: xavier@bgi.pt
